Powerboat - Level 1
The level 1 course includes boating safety, boat handling and basic theory. It can be taken as a stand alone course or integrated into the level 2 course.

Powerboat - Level 2
The Level 2 course includes more practice at manoeuvres such as picking up a mooring, anchoring and man overboard recovery. It introduces navigation, pilotage and engine maintenance. The course can be taken at an inland or coastal location.

Powerboat - Intermediate
The Intermediate course is designed to cover modern navigational techniques and how they work alongside more traditional styles ashore and afloat. You will also cover more advanced boat handling, passage planning and pilotage as practical skills.

Powerboat - Advanced
This course is for leisure and professional boaters wanting to undertake more adventurous trips. It includes navigation by day and night, weather and other aspects of skippering a small boat on more challenging passages in costal waters.

To teach boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation up to the standards required to drive a planning powerboat safely by day and night in tidal costal waters with which the candidate may be familiar. |

Safety Boat (Powerboat)
The safety boat course is for those who use powerboats to provide support and safety cover for other watersports such as sailing and windsurfing. It includes rescue techniques and elements of race management and mark laying.

To introduce the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies and windsurfers, providing safety cover for training fleets, and assisting in race management. |

If you hold an RYA Advanced Powerboat Course Completion Certificate the seatime is reduced to: 20 days, 2 days as skipper, 400 miles, 12 night hours. You will also require a Sea Survivial Certificate - ML5 Medical Report. |

SHOREBASED COURSES
VHF/SRC
This radio operator qualification authorises the holder to operate a VHF radio fitted with Digital Selective Calling on board any British vessel which is voluntarily fitted with radio equipment.

Basic navigation and safety
This course gives a basic introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating; Sailors, Powerboaters, Sea Anglers, Divers, Kayakers and anyone thinking of getting involved with any form of water activity; the course is also useful for experienced Dinghy and Keelboat Sailors and Inshore Racers.
