Essential Navigation and Safety
This course gives a basic introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating; Sailors, Powerboaters, Sea Anglers, Divers, Kayakers and anyone thinking of getting involved with any form of water activity; the course is also useful for experienced Dinghy and Keelboat Sailors and Inshore Racers.

Duration : 16 hours taught over 2 days or a series of shorter sessions


The ICC CEVNI Test
Code Européen des Voies de Navigation Intérieure (CEVNI) is the code governing navigation on the interconnected European inland waterways and is the basis of the various countries' own regulations. Signs, rules and procedures for navigating the European inland waterways are all included within CEVNI and in the same way as pleasure craft on coastal waters are expected to abide by the COLREGS.

Anyone requiring an ICC valid for inland waters must pass the CEVNI Test.

Practice using RYA Interactive

Duration : 2 hours for exam


Day Skipper Shorebased Course

A comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. Invaluable for learning how to start making decisions on board and if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course.

Pre Course requirement : Some practical experience desirable.
Duration : Intensive 5 consecutive days or 3 weekends.


Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Course

This course is ideal for candidates for the Costal Skipper practical course and Yachtmaster Offshore exam. Some revision of the Day Skipper shorebased course is included, plus more advanced skills in offshore and coastal navigation by day and night, Pilotage and meteorology.

Pre Course requirement : Knowledge equivalent to Day Skipper shorebased course.
Duration : Intensive 5 consecutive days or 3 weekends.


VHF/SRC
This radio operator qualification authorises the holder to operate a VHF radio fitted with Digital Selective Calling on board any British vessel which is voluntarily fitted with radio equipment.

Pre Course requirement : None
Duration : 1 Day
Minimum Age : 16 yrs (For issue Of Licence)


Radar
Essential understanding of radar and set controls, plotting and collision avoidance. Navigation techniques

Pre Course requirement : None
Duration : 1 Day
